Leaders of the Jewish community and organisations representing Jewish university students and staff have called for the removal of all remaining “Globalise the Intifada” election material from University land.
The Jewish community has thanked the University for acting promptly to removing violent and extremist material from parts of the campus. However, the continued use of this term in campaign material and as the ticket’s name is unacceptable. Read full release here.

The Australian Academic Alliance Against Antisemitism (5A) has welcomed the Group of Eight Expert Advisory Committee's report on combatting antisemitism while raising concerns that it falls short on accountability and measurable action. 5A argues that universities need stronger transparency, leadership accountability and meaningful inclusion of people with lived experience to create safer, more inclusive campuses for Jewish students and staff.

The Jewish community welcomes today’s statement from the University of Sydney with cautious optimism.
We appreciate the University’s clear recognition that slogans such as “Globalise the Intifada” are unacceptable, and its unequivocal opposition to hate speech and incitement to violence.
We note the University’s commitment to enforce its rules and codes of conduct so that hate speech, intimidation and incitement to violence are not tolerated on campus, and to take disciplinary action where students or staff are found to have breached those policies. Read full release here.

5A called for urgent reform at Australian universities following its submission to the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion, arguing that antisemitism has become normalised on campuses and that Jewish students and staff continue to feel unsafe. The Alliance recommended stronger leadership, a review of the French Model Code, the adoption of a definition of antisemitism, and targeted education informed by people with lived experience.
