5A welcomes the report of the G08 Expert Advisory Committee, with some profound concerns.
Australian Academic Alliance Against Antisemitism (5A) CEO, Alisa Pincus, said: “5A welcomes the report by the Group of Eight Expert Advisory Committee on Combatting Antisemitism, but we have profound concerns that it lacks the specificity and accountability required to bring about meaningful change. “The committee’s published analysis and recommendations overlap with some of 5A’s recommendations to the Royal Commission. However, while the report mentions the need for “culture change” it fails to recommend steps that would fully restore visibility and inclusion for Jewish staff and students. 5A has proposed verifiable, measurable and time-bound steps to enable universities to reverse the normalisation of vilification, intimidation and exclusion of Jews that we have seen on Australian campuses, especially over the last 30 months.
